Grimguard Tactics, from developer Outerdawn, is one of the most polished and playable turn-based RPGs of the year so far, with slick, mobile-friendly gameplay, distinctive visuals, and a fantastically rich lore.
If you’re not already playing it, you should be. And before you start you should probably study our guide to the various characters and unit types you’ll come across in the game. But first, a little bit of background on Terenos, the fantasy world where the action takes place.
There are five continents in Grimguard Tactics, all with their own unique topographies, climates, cultures, and histories.
Siborni is a swashbuckling, wealthy, scientifically advanced, and highly religious society that could be mistaken for Venice, the Vordlands are temperate and well defended by mountains, and Urklunders are a tough people living on the edge of the world. .
Hanchura, meanwhile, is the largest realm in Grimguard Tactics, featuring huge mountains, murky swamps, wondrous cities, and a whole lot of crime, and Cartha is an ancient land of jungles and deserts filled with arcane power.
We’re not here to tell you about these continents, but knowing where a character is from definitely helps you to understand them.
It’s also worth knowing that every character has an alignment (Order, Chaos, or Might) and a role (Assault, Tank, or Support). Assault characters inflict damage, Tanks can soak it up, Support characters heal… you know the drill.
Now that we’ve got the preliminaries out of the way, here’s your definitive guide to the characters in Grimguard Tactics – The Heroes of Order, The Heroes of Chaos, and The Heroes of Might. We’ll be throwing in quotes from the game’s official guides from time to time about some of them too.
