The latest game in the Angry Birds franchise, Angry Birds Journey, has just landed on the App Store. So if you fancy throwing some birds into some blocks and creating carnage, you’re in luck. Especially if you don’t have much time on your hands.
The game is more fast-paced than its predecessors, and borrows some ideas from other genres to keep the puzzling taut and the destruction more focused. You need to smash a certain number of pigs, save some hatchlets, then do the whole thing again. And you’ve only got a few birds to do it with.
Those birds have different skills, from exploding to dashing horizontally or vertically when they make contact with a block. There’s different blocks, too, and a variety of different twists from gravity to unbreakable chains that the game throws in at regular intervals.
There are loads of levels for you to work your way through, and there’s an addictive pulse to the play that means you’re probably going to stick round for longer than you planned. Or at least as long as the stamina system lets you.
Angry Birds Journey is a decent, if far from revolutionary, entry in the Angry Birds canon, and if you like bird flinging you’re going to be in your element. You can click here to download it from the App Store. It’s free with IAP.
