Candywriter has finally introduced pets to BitLife, giving us another good excuse to ignore the real world and live life in our phones again.
These new pets range from the ordinary cats and dogs to the slightly more crazy gorillas and, errr, unicorns. We’re not entirely sure the latter of those two actually exists.
That’s all besides the point though because we’re not here to give you a history of unicorns. Instead, we’re going to detail all of the pets you can now get in BitLife, and how to get them.

How do I Get a Pet in BitLife?
Simply visit the new ‘Pets’ tab to grab yourself a new furry or slithery animal in BitLife. Once there, you’ll notice that there are a few different options.
You can visit the Animal Shelter to rescue a poor little pup in need, visit a breeder to get yourself a pure breed, or go to the pet store to purchase a more exotic animal.
If you select the breeder option, you can actually choose a specific dog or cat breed from an enormous list. This is an expensive option though, and we wouldn’t really recommend it unless you’re loaded.
Besides, why buy a pet when there are so many poor animals waiting for a new home in a shelter? Do the right thing.
Can I Get a Horse?
You can – but only if you’re rich! You can’t keep a horse in the shed or a backyard, so you’ll need to fork out for an equestrian property to give your horse space to run free.
A basic equestrian property will set you back nearly six million though, with the best on offer running up to nearly eight million. So you’re probably going to need to save a bit before you can afford a horse or two.
Where Are the Unicorns?
If you really must adopt a unicorn – or any other odd or mythical animal – you’re going to have to splash the cash. In this instance, we mean real life cash too.
You can get standard animals with the basic, free version of the game but if you want a unicorn, you have to purchase premium membership. This vastly increases the range of pets you can get.
As soon as you’re a Bitizen (a premium member) you can visit the Exotic Pet Dealer, who deals in the weird and wonderful.
Not only that but you can adopt as many pets as you like as a premium member. Basic members can only adopt up to four pets.
Is There Any Other Way to Get Pets?
There is, actually. You can randomly encounter animals in the wild, and if you choose to rescue them you can get the option to keep the animal.
It seems like you can get any animal this way too – regardless of your membership. You’re relying on luck though, which doesn’t always swing in your favour.
