Chaos Zero Nightmare Combat
When you enter battle, you can draw 5 cards on your turn. You will start each turn with 3 Action Points, and you can only hold a maximum of 10 cards in your hand at any given time. As you may expect, each card has a different use.
You draw cards from the Draw Pile, and any card you have drawn this turn (whether played or not) goes into the Discard Pile unless they have the Retain Tag. When you run out of cards in the Draw Pile, your cards from the Discard Pile will go back into the Draw Pile after being shuffled.
Types of Cards
There are five types of cards that you will come across in gameplay.
- Skill
- These provide buffs of abilities. For example, allowing you to heal or conjure a shield.
- Attack
- As the name implies, these are all about attacking your opponents. These deal damage to your enemies.
- Curse
- Curse cards get created by an event. They can cause negative effects, and are there to clog up your hand. Following their name, these are a ‘curse’, as they do more harm than good. You can play these, but you can also remove them by heading to a shop.
- Status
- These work similarly to the curse cards. They are created by your opponents mid-battle, and you can play them to remove them. However, once the battle ends, they will disappear.
- Upgrade
- These provide effects or abilities that will last until the end of your current encounter.
Enemies
Sooner or later, you’ll come across an enemy. Each one has an attribute they are weak to, which you can tell by checking out their icon next to their Action Count. When you attack an enemy and they take damage, they will also take some Tenacity Damage, and their break bar decreases.
