For the uninitiated, The Legend of Heroes: Trails is a hit anime RPG series set on the vast, sprawling fantasy continent of Zemuria. Each game in the franchise takes place in a different part of this continent, at a different time, and with a different storyline and cast.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War takes place, reasonably enough, during the Northern War period of the continent’s history.
Set between the Trials of Cold Steel II and the Trials of Cold Steel III, it follows Lavi and friends as they attempt to infiltrate the Erebonian Empire and gather intel on the threat hanging over North Ambria.
Combat in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War is turn-based, with heroes arranged in three ranks according to their roles and abilities.

There are several tactical considerations to weigh, including buffs, S-crafts, and partner effects, making this one of the more involved strategy experiences in the free-to-play gacha RPG genre.
Outside the campaign there’s a whole range of modes to play, including Dungeon Exploration, Infinity Tower, and several different Labyrinths.
The game also boasts all new “Free Exploration Gameplay”, which means you’re free to wander Zemuria in search of unique storylines, mysteries, characters, and more.
You can pre-register for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War right now on Android, iOS, and PC.
