Some games like to hold your hand. Some games like to explain everything you need to do. And then there are games like Cultist Simulator. This gloomy, nightmare-riven card-based roguelike throws you in the deep end and asks you to swim.
And right now you can pick the game up for an awful lot cheaper than usual. Should you, though? Read on and find out why we think that Cultist Simulator is well worth an investment.
For one thing, there’s nothing else like it out there. It’s a narrative roguelike, filled with choices and conflicts, all wrapped up in a 1920s Lovecraftian aesthetic. Expect giant evil gods, creeping horrors and much, much more.
You’re going to die a lot in the game, as you’d expect from anything that calls itself a roguelike. But it’s up to you to figure out your mistakes, understand where you went wrong and jump back into the fray.
It’s maddening, but in all of the right ways. Check out the trailer we’ve embedded below to get an idea of what Cultist Simulator is going to be throwing at your face on a regular basis.
Looks pretty darn interesting, right? And as you probably spotted in the trailer its won its fair share of awards and nominations too. Right now you can pick all of that good-badness up for just $3.99.
