505 Games and Kojima Productions announced earlier today that Death Stranding’s debut on iPhone, iPad, and Mac has been pushed back to 2024. Apparently, they need a bit more time to get it moving.
Originally set for late 2023, you can pre-order the game on App Store for $40. Currently, a tentative date is listed on the App Store as January 31, 2024. Kojima Productions is teaming up with A24 for a Death Stranding movie. They’re also cooking up a sequel title for the post-apocalypse package delivery simulator.
What’s Death Stranding?
Hideo Kojima’s post-Metal Gear game throws you into a distant future that has been hit by ‘death stranding.’ You play the role of Sam, the delivery guy. Your job is to connect settlements in the fractured future USA, now known as UCA (United Cities of America). These aren’t your usual settlements, they are a blended world of the living and dead.
In over 50 hours, you’ll face spooky entities called the Beached Things (BT) whose souls are stranded in the world of the living following the events of the Death Stranding. In other words, 23rd-century ghosts! Another major character in the story is BB, the Bridge Baby.
In the world of Death Stranding, BB is an unborn fetus taken from a stillmother. Bridges operatives use BB as equipment to sense and detect the BTs. Yep, it’s a little messed up, I agree! But all the real lifelike elements and the post-apocalyptic narrative make the title a must-play. Check out the official website for more details!
You’ll be unravelling mysteries, meeting new people, bonding with BB and learning more about the history, present and future of UCA. The game’s a bit demanding but engaging and visually magnificent, nonetheless. It offers an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. Oh, and Sam is played by Norman Reedus, breathing life into the whole dystopian vibe.
