Current affairs has become a pretty surreal scene, and how better to celebrate the absurdity of the world today than with the most absurdly weird and addictive video game genre of them all?
Developed by casual specialist Pixel Play, Go Lick The World is a mobile clicker game that sees you tapping furiously on a rotating 3D model of planet earth to rack up points, pass the time, and help you relax about the leader of the free world’s word choices.
Of course, there’s a little bit more to it than that. You’ll also tap on LickLink satellites (which bear a passing resemblance to Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites), as well as Chinese spy balloons, ice creams, and more.
If you’re a true patriot, you’ll know that ice cream is one of President Joe Biden’s favorite desserts, while Taste Bud sounds a bit like one of the USA’s most internationally renowned beer brands. These are just a few of the “Licktastic” achievements present.
Meanwhile, tapping on F35 jets, Red Electric Cars, and Air Force One-esque planes called Lick Force One sends your score hurtling towards the top of the leaderboard.
Other objects you’ll encounter in orbit include Impeach-Mints, Tacos, Swifties, and pizza slices (remember pizzagate?) These are all tied to particular days of the week, to keep things fresh.
On terra firma you’ll spot the White House, the Great Pyramids, Antarctica, and an unfortunately poo-covered San Francisco.
The fun doesn’t end there though. You can also get Earth skins and accessories by watching rewarded ads. There’s a reward ad icon – a Lickinati” TV set on the “new world order channel” – that is activated every few minutes to give you the chance to nab these. They include things such as a clown world face, trucker hat, an Uncle Sam patriotic hat, and many more.
Go Lick The World is totally free to download and play, though you’ll have to make an in-app purchase to rid the game of ads. Another IAP lets you hand over clicking duties to “LickGPT”, while a third gives you a blue tick.
