Minecraft Earth Has Soft Launched in New Zealand and Iceland on iOS

Minecraft Earth just took one step closer to a full global launch today, after soft launching in New Zealand and Iceland. If you live in those territories, or can bypass regional restrictions, you can check out Minecraft Earth right now.

In case you’ve never heard of this before, it’s a brand new entry in the creative sandbox franchise. You’ll wander around the real world, building creations and the like alongside your friends.

Minecraft Earth Brings Your Creations to Life in the Real World Thanks to the Power of AR

This is achieved thanks to the power of AR. By holding your phone up in certain locations, you’ll be able to see creations made by you or your friends in the real world.

It draws a lot of inspiration from Pokémon GO too, with a Minecraft version of your local neighbourhood appearing on a Google Maps-style map. You can wander around gathering resources.

So if you’re able to access Minecraft Earth right now, head on over to the App Store and grab it. If not, we’ll keep you posted as this heads closer to a global launch.
