Wharr: Age of the Colossus Review

    Ruan Shiels·February 25, 2011
My hat goes off to those developers who are willing to try something absolutely crazy in the name of innovation; even when a gameplay concept crashes and burns in execution, the effort at least lets other devs know what doesn't work. That's precisely what Forge 11 has done for the iOS games industry with the very quirky "Wharr: Age of the Colossus." The takeaway message? Vertical 2D platforming and an interface that revolves around tilt controls mix about as well as oil with water.

    Liv Games Interview

    Ruan Shiels·February 24, 2011
The interview goodness continues! This time we digitally chatted with Orian Livnat, one of the many talented minds behind Liv Games' genre-defying hit, Legendary Wars. Without a doubt, the story behind this game development studio has to be one of the most heartwarming - and dare we say, "legendary"? - to spring out of the economic recession.

    The Flood: Salvation Review

    Ruan Shiels·February 22, 2011
The key elements of well-liked physics puzzle games such as Ramps and Angry Birds really aren't all that difficult to decipher. Let's see, both boast an intuitive concept, just the right balance of trickiness and 'one more go' playability, a pleasing art style and/or chirpy characters. Sadly, The Flood: Salvation possesses none of the above. And in their place we get needlessly convoluted game mechanics, clunky drag-and-drop controls and a rag doll with all the charisma of a bloated corpse.

    Puckerz! Review

    Ruan Shiels·February 21, 2011
I wouldn't normally begin a review by immediately gushing over the game's sound design, but, honestly, it was the pounding techno score that made me sit up and start paying closer attention to Puckerz! - a title that, before playing, I'd hastily written off as a generic Peggle clone. Needless to say, these electrifying beats being fused to some of the fastest and most furiously thrilling arcade action yet seen on iOS shattered my expectations of this title entirely.

    Falling Fred Hands-On Preview

    Ruan Shiels·February 19, 2011
Dedalord Games debuted on the App Store with a stylish and eerily atmospheric sokoban puzzler that cast players as the deranged inmate of a dingy, blood-stained loony bin. And it doesn't look this indie outfit is lightening up any for their imminent sophomore effort. Described as a "gory game sprinkled with black humor", Falling Fred wastes no time in hurling the titular character down an elevator shaft...
