    Ruan Shiels·January 18, 2011
Eighth grader's game soars to the top of the Free App charts shortly after release; wins millions of iDevice gamers' hearts. Sounds like the plot of a feel-good movie, right? Well, believe it -- grassroots bloggers and large news outlets alike have been whipped into a tizzy by the story surrounding Nay Games' breakout effort. But how does the unassuming Bubble Ball hold up under the game reviewer's lens?

    Gravonaut Review

    Sean Koch·January 14, 2011
Now, here's something refreshing: an App Store entry that makes absolutely no pretenses. Right off the bat Nexus Game Studios lets you know that Gravonaut is very retro -- and very, very challenging. If you think you're prepared for this level of difficulty just because your gaming days started when cutting edge releases used to look like Gravonaut...think again!

    Red Gun Review

    Ruan Shiels·January 13, 2011
What with Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption doing a roaring trade on consoles and the Coen Brothers' True Grit currently wowing cinema goers, it's kinda surprising more western themed games haven't yet gunned their way into the App Store. Well, polish your Colt and grab a dozen bullets because indie developer Damatha Studios' impressive iOS debut, arcade shoot 'em up Red Gun, aims to fill the void in style.

    Bug Heroes In-Depth Review

    Sean Koch·January 12, 2011
Bug Heroes was already excellent when it took the App Store by storm last week, but Foursaken Media's first "bug" fix update has brought it to the level of pure gaming bliss. It doesn't really matter which genre you're most fond of; Bug Heroes has something for everyone, whether it be a creative premise, furious onscreen action, high score competition, or deep player character customization.

    Smart Mouse Review

    Ruan Shiels·January 11, 2011
Smart Mouse's high concept premiss made me smile, it really did. The deal is, you've got to help an escaped lab mouse nab hard to reach pieces of cheese by strategically placing various objects around environments for him to scurry along. Sadly, however, as I breezed through the game's meagre offering of 20 easy peasy challenges, my initial enthusiasm rapidly started to wane.

Fox Tales: Escape from Dr. Goober Review

    Ruan Shiels·January 10, 2011
We had the opportunity to give a near-final pre-release copy of Won-O-Soft's Fox Tales a whirl a couple of weeks back, and really enjoyed the title's tilt based take on the old-school 2D platform game formula. For those of you that might have missed our hands-on preview, Fox Tales puts you in the pelt of wily hero Jack Fox...

Devil Hunter X Review & Giveaway

    Ruan Shiels·January 7, 2011
If you secretly miss the days you used to spend swearing at your TV screen, NES or SNES controller in hand, Corefan's got a sidescrolling platformer just for you. It suffers from an atrocious translation and interface kinks that come with its status as a cell phone port, but nevertheless, Devil Hunter X proves there's room on the iOS for the kind of highly varied action games that have become all too rare since the early 1990s.

iOS Gaming Preview: 2011 At a Glance

    Ruan Shiels·January 7, 2011
Even though we’ve barely gotten over the cracker that was Christmas 2010, a fair few new iPhone games have already been announced that have me very excited about the year ahead. Highlights include a potential GTA/Gangstar killer, an epic, incredibly ambitious sci-fi RPG, and an intriguing little title that just might turn you into the App Store’s next super-successful indie game dev.

    Ramps Review

    Ruan Shiels·January 6, 2011
Based on an award-winning Flash game, Backabit's Ramps has been tweaked and enhanced in all the right places for its iOS debut. And once you spend a little time with this endearingly back-to-basics puzzler, it's not hard to see why almost a million people found themselves hooked on the title's well-observed brand of fast-paced, physics-based problem solving.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light sees the iconic adventuress making the leap from Xbox Live and PSN to debut on iOS. Fans will no doubt be delighted to find Ms. Croft arrives looking as lovely as ever and boasting the same assets that made the recent pseudo-reboot of the Tomb Raider series such a resounding critical success.
