"Gears of Fur" succeeds in bringing something new to platformers with its gear friction mechanics, but lackluster enemies and a relatively traditional first half take some of the punch out of the cool concept.
Consider "Beyond Dead" a work that's still very much in progress. Even at this early stage, it's clear that there's lots of "Metroid"-style goodness to look forward to once it's fleshed out and gets some interface refining.
A unique visual novel/casual puzzle mashup that benefits from strong writing, standout voice acting, and clever minigame design. It helps if you're a 19th century literature buff though!
We still don't know much about "The Curse" other than that it's shaping up to be absolutely gorgeous, and promises family-friendly puzzle fun with a slightly creepy edge. And jazz!
Bottom line: its story may be chock full of 1980s references, but "Saturday Morning RPG" is built from the best that late '90s JRPGs had to offer. We're certainly not complaining about that!
