There’s a Warcraft Mobile Game in the Works at Blizzard

In a blogpost talking about its future plans for World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, Blizzard has revealed that it’s also working on its first mobile game set in the Warcraft universe. That’s some pretty big news, right there.

There’s no word on what shape the game is actually going to take – might it be a full port of World of Warcraft, a version of one of the Warcraft strategy games or something completely new? We honestly don’t know.

You can click here to read every part of the blogpost. Or, if you’d prefer, here’s the part about the mobile games – “Beyond World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, we’re preparing to get the first game in the Warcraft Universe designed for mobile into your hands. We will tell you more about it in May.”

Warcraft in your pocket

The main takeaway from that is that we’re going to find out more about the new game in May. So that gives us a couple of months to speculate wildly about exactly what the game might be. Pokemon Go-style creature finder? Monster merger? Something with gacha?

Blizzard is also working on Diablo Immortal, the long awaited mobile dungeon trawler that should hopefully be landing on an App Store near you sometime this year. We imagine the new Warcraft game will be a similarly re-tooling designed for pocket-sized devices.

But, we’re just going to have to wait and see. We will, of course, keep you updated as and when we hear more about what exactly this Warcraft mobile game is going to be.
