‘Star Trek – Wrath of Gems’ Review: Be The Ultimate Trekkie

Star Trek fanatics, delight! You are in for a treat as CBS interactive and Genera Games (the makers of Frozen: Free-fall and Run Forrest Run) combine forces to give Trekkies another fun, adventure-filled game. Star Trek – Wrath of Gems (out now, free) is a match-3 puzzler/RPG that’s teeming with your favorite Star Trek characters from The Original Series and The Next Generation.

Enjoy the pleasure of battling against Cardassians, Klingons, and Romulans by matching gems in three game modes: starship battles, one-on-one combat and diplomatic encounters. The more you knock rows of gems out, the easier it will be for you to succeed with your mission. It’s fun, easy to play and the Star Trek characters will amuse you.

Whether you want to follow the footsteps of Jean-Luc Picard or Worf, you can form your very own A-team by collecting cards to assemble your own characters and ships to defeat your opponents. From TOS and TNG, the game has the line-up you have been looking forward to. You can also earn special abilities when you win special packs so you can boost the skill of your crew.

Play with fans old and young in special events and tournaments to win exclusive prizes including new characters and ships. There are two different campaigns in the game: Story and Versus mode. Thanks to a new social update, you will be able to choose the latter and challenge players in your way to beat the rankings. By going social, you should also be able to share your loot, brag your wins, and join clans to defend the Federation!
