Watcher Chronicles is a Side-Scrolling Souls-Like, Out Now on the App Store

Where lots of Souls-like games tend towards the grim and gritty end of the aesthetic spectrum, Watcher Chronicles goes pretty-much full cartoon. It’s still full of death and violence and loot, though, and it’s pretty darn good.

The game sees you playing as a denizen of purgatory who’s trying to fight off an invasion of demonic creatures. There are enormous bosses to take down, and you’re going to have to have your wits and your reactions honed if you want to take them down.

What’s more, you can connect two controllers to your device and take down the whole game in super-cool cooperative mode. The world needs more cooperation right now. Here’s a trailer to give you some idea of what to expect.

There are some RPG elements to sink your teeth into as well – you’re going to need to find and equip new weapons and gears if you want to destroy those behemoths. There’s dodging and blocking, alongside combo-based attacks and secondary weapons.

The first chunk of the game is free, so you can pick it up and see if you’re into what Watcher Chronicles has to offer. If you are you can unlock the rest of the experience with a one-off IAP of $7.99.

If any of this sounds like it might be up your street – a street likely filled with gargoyles and corpses – you can click here to download Watcher Chronicles from the App Store right this very second.
