Indie studio Rinikulous Games blazed onto the iOS gaming scene recently with their debut title, Lonely Sun (out now, $1.99). And so far it’s doing absolutely brilliantly with critics. Seriously, everywhere I look people are calling it things like: “fresh and exciting” (The iPhone App Review) and “immensely good looking” (Edamame Reviews). As you may recall, I too gave the game a glowing — and I mean GLOWING — review just last week, citing its unique premise, compelling gameplay and beautifully artsy visuals as reasons why as many people as possible should seek it out.
For anyone who’s missed the hype thus far, Lonely Sun is a side-scrolling adventure game that centers around the creation of a new solar system. Playing as “gravity’s guiding hand,” it’s up to you to usher 5 fledgling planets through a series of hazardous, platformer-esque stages, so that they might fulfill their ultimate destiny of orbiting the titular sun.
