Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is coming to mobile, NIS America has announced. We’re not sure exactly when though, but that’s a pretty impressive JRPG to come to our favourite platform.
If you haven’t played it, Lacrimosa of Dana launched in 2016, and was the first Ys game to launch for over eight years. It also broke the mould a bit with a total gameplay shift.

While the action-focused combat of the previous entries returned along with protagonist Adol, the gameplay generally involved building your own based on a cursed island.
Right at the beginning, you find yourself shipwrecked along with a bunch of other survivors. It’s all very unfortunate, but building up your own base is incredibly fun.
And there’s still all of the action-packed combat you love, ridiculous story beats, and tons of characters to meet and get to know. You’ll love it.
We’ll let you know as soon as we learn more about the official release date. Sadly, we don’t even know if it will launch this year on iOS.
